MINISTRY OF LAND AND HOUSING
To establish a sustainable Housing delivery system that will ensure easy access to home ownership by the citizens of the state and ensure that processes and procedure for land administration and management are devoid of ambiguities, accessible, trans-parent and at the end, satisfactorily rewarding.
Provision of adequate and affordable shelter for all indigenes of Jigawa state in both the Urban and rural areas.
ABOUT THE MINISTRY
The Ministry of Land and Housing evolved as a result of the re-alignment of ministries and Parastatals by the Sule Lamido administration towards refocusing the Housing policy and land management system to a much more viable and effective one for proper articulation of programmes by easing up the means of acquisition of land rights, structures and procedures of registration, economic empowerment as well as poverty eradication.
The ministry is responsible for the:-
A. To establish a sustainable land information system that will ensure easy access to that land related data on all parcels of land in the state towards easing the preparation of Certificate of occupancy on Government land at all levels and all owned by individuals and corporate bodies.
B. Formulation, implementation and evaluation of all Government policies on land and Housing
C. Coordinating the activities of agencies under it i.e. Urban Development Board and Housing Authority
D. Preparing state land & Housing plans and reviewing same regularly and ensuring its possible implementation
E. Ensuring access to land for any infrastructural development.
F. Centralizing and consolidating file storage system whereby existing title documents are secured and archived into data base that will ensure proper indexing of documents.
G. Facilitating the total digitalizing and computerizing all available land records to pave way for the erstwhile Jigawa State Land information system (JIGLIS)
H. Ensuring active participation of public, private and non government organization at all levels by ensuring security of tenure and protection from discrimination and equal access to land and affordable houses for all persons.
I. To operate a smooth land administration system that is customer-friendly and one that is capable of enhancing and promoting the socio-economic growth of all.
J. To ensure provision of survey plans on all land parcels owned by Governments, individuals and corporate institutions all over the state.
The Ministry has a total of Seven Departments and two agencies under its supervision as follows.
