To obtain and disseminate information on Government policies and programmes to the general public and receive feedback to assist Government
Open a window for its citizens, Nigerians and the world at large to access Information from and on any part of the state, with ease.
ü Coordinate the activities of its Parastatals and other Departments namely, Jigawa State Sports Council, History & Culture Bureau, Jigawa State Broadcasting Corporation, Jigawa State Printing Press and the Jigawa people’s congress (JSPC).
ü Being the Chief image maker of Government, it is to keep people adequately informed about the decisions and policies of Government in a timely and comprehensive manner so as to bridge the gap between government and its people.
ü Support the plans of Government through the provision of adequate information and help people understand government and its activities through the media and other communications Machinery.
ü Embracing and enhancing new media technologies by improving the content and depth of programming to communicate important messages to people, other Nigerians and the World over.
ü Informing the Government and other general public on the act of governance, source and provide an enabling environment for the collection of authentic and authoritative Data on the direction of Government.
ü Collate, articulate and disseminate information about Jigawa, its people, culture and tradition, religion, and activities in all tiers of Government.
ü To pursue the development and application of communication tools;
ü To establish an effective and efficient information gathering, dissemination and response mechanism, for the attainment of stability and positioning the Ministry’s programmes towards enlightening the people on its corporate existence and interest.
ü Develop and manage the state Web portal, ensuring that the information contained is well presented, up-to-date and meets demand from government, general public and Web users.

4) Recommendation of promotion of senior staff GL 07-16:

1 The Department of Information is charged with the responsibility of promoting and maintaining the good image of the Government and the entire people of Jigawa state. All Radio and Television programmes are generally channeled through the electronic media.

ü Gathering of information on the state, Government policies and programmes; and its people. This is to be achieved through our Resident Public Relation Officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
ü Dissemination of information on the state, Government policies and programmes and its people for Local and the external public.
ü Management and Coordination of Press and Public Relations Units of Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
ü Maintenance of information technology facilities in the Ministry

ü To effectively sustain and build a positive image for the Ministry/Government, through the adaptation of modern Public Relations delivery system.

ü Public Relations Services aimed at projecting the image of the Ministry/Government towards a better understanding of its policies/programmes.
ü Monitoring of issues as it affects the state on the internet
ü Coordinating all information/photographic needs for internal/external users
ü Coordination and supervision of all Youth activities
ü Registration of Youth Clubs, Voluntary Associations, CBO, and NGO’s
ü Issuance of Cinema/Viewing Centre Licenses
ü Issuance of Public collection permit.
ü Censorship of cinemas and other viewing centers.
ü Maintains and keeps accurate published works so as to enhance the credibility of Government and MDA’s at all times.
ü Collates all Publications on the state.
ü Maintains a reservoir of useful records about important state and national events and personalities and make them readily available to interested public on request.
ü Establishes and maintains archival records for use and disposal where necessary.
ü Maintenance of Mini Library as a source of information, on books, periodicals, Newspapers and Magazines primarily for the benefit of various MDA’s and interested researchers.
ü Package audio visual events and digitalization of archival records on the activities of government at state and national levels.
